Honda to debut new e-Bike

Honda will debut a new electric motorbike at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show, named the Riding Assist-e. The new bike is aimed at learner riders, and to make it easier starting out, Honda has incorporated self-balancing technology. To make it easier for the rider, Honda lowered the seat, the center-of-gravity and added self-balancing technology without the use of a gyroscope. The self-balancing technology is likely derived from Honda’s ASIMO robot, and is only operational at low speeds. To keep itself upright, the bike uses continuous small steering movements instead of a gyroscope, which would add more weight to the bike. Little more is known about the bike than what is shown in photos at this stage. More information will be released at the Motor Show on October 25.
