Honda slashes Japan production

Honda has announced it is cutting production at its Japanese factories by up to 30 per cent in August because of ongoing supply chain and logistical issues.
The marque says two lines at its Suzuka plant will trim output by about 10 per cent this month and by about 30 per cent in early August, when compared with its previous plans.
Production at Honda’s assembly plant in Saitama prefecture will also reduce operations by about 10 per cent early next month.
The full extent of the company’s decision is unclear because it has not disclosed its monthly production target, reports Reuters.
Most carmakers have had to adjust their manufacturing levels following the impact of Covid-19 lockdowns in China and an ongoing global shortage of semi-conductors.
Toyota recently announced its production numbers for August will be about 700,000 units, a drop of about 18 per cent from its original plans.
