Giltrap lands Lotus appointment

Lotus Auckland, part of the Giltrap Group, has been appointed as the British sports car brand’s exclusive retailer in New Zealand and has plans to open a dedicated showroom before the end of the year.

The company has already launched a website and it will undertake all sales, servicing and parts supply for Lotus models.

Final Edition versions of the Lotus Elise and Lotus Exige will be the first cars on sale here followed in 2022 by the Emira, the final petrol-powered car from Lotus before it shifts to an all-electric future.

The vehicles will eventually be on display at Lotus Auckland in 172 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, which is expected to be completed and open for business during the final quarter of 2021.

Kiwi consumers will be able to choose from the Elise Sport 240 Final Edition, pictured, and the Elise Cup 250 Final Edition. While the Exige range is powered by a supercharged V6 and includes the Sport 390 Final Edition, Sport 420 Final Edition, and the track-focused Cup 430 Final Edition.

Geoff Dowding, executive director, sales and aftersales for Lotus Cars, says: “New Zealand is a key market for us as we continue the transformation of the Lotus business and brand.

“We’re delighted to be working with Giltrap Group. It has a proud history in the automotive world and a genuine passion for motorsport, making it the perfect partner for Lotus Cars.”

The move adds to the Giltrap Group’s stable of luxury and high-performance brands.

Michael Giltrap, joint managing director, says: “We are thrilled to represent Lotus in New Zealand. It’s a brand with strong motor racing and sports car heritage that has an exciting future ahead with high-performance pure electric vehicles.”
