Get purring in Supercat
Have you got a spare $470,00 floating around? If yes, you may be tempted to splash out on a TWR Supercat.
It’s reported to be the result of “two years of extensive design, engineering and development work”, and is the company’s first product.
It is being touted as “a true driver’s Super-GT” and is based on the foundations of Jaguar’s XJS.
Back in the Group A era of motor racing, TWR had a close association with Jaguar. Its XJS touring cars won a few big races, including Bathurst.
The Supercat, which boasts a 600hp supercharged V12, is limited to 88 examples. The number has been chosen to celebrate the 1988 Le Mans win in the TWR Jaguar XJR-9.
TWR says its motorsport DNA is “evidenced in every element from a manual transmission, weight-saving materials (the body panels are carbon fibre) and an exhaustive testing, development and tuning programme”.
Orders for the Supercat are now open with a £10,000 refundable deposit. As individual builds, “all TWR clients will be afforded a full scope for personalisation. Therefore, pricing will vary depending on individual specifications but will start at an indicative price of £225,000”. First deliveries are slated for later this year.
