Geely Auto New Zealand has appointed Jordan Haines as its brand manager ahead of the carmaker’s launch here, which is set to happen in April.

The brand’s official New Zealand distributor is the Giltrap Group after the companies announced the signing of a strategic partnership in November 2024.

Haines, pictured, brings 13 years of automotive industry experience to the role and has been with Giltrap since 2018, most recently as Volkswagen New Zealand national sales manager.

“I am excited at the opportunity to launch Geely into our market as it is a transformative brand with innovation and sustainability at its forefront,” he says.

“Geely will bring world-class engineering at an affordable price that is within the reach of all New Zealanders.”

The Geely EX5, a mid-sized electric vehicle, will be the first model to enter the New Zealand market.

This will be followed by a range of powertrains, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, range-extended and petrol-powered vehicles.

A network of Geely Auto showrooms is set to open across New Zealand throughout 2025.

Geely Auto, which claims to be the world’s fastest-growing carmaker, describes its alliance with Giltrap as a key achievement in its global expansion and further solidifies its presence in the Oceania market.

Steve Kenchington, Giltrap Group chief executive, adds: “Jordan and his team will be working with one of the world's great carmakers, and we are delighted that Geely Auto are about to open their first New Zealand dealership, extending our portfolio with the greater Geely Group.

“This is a very exciting time for Geely with its global growth trajectory and increased model range coming to market over the coming years.”
