A wide variety of vehicles have made the shortlist hoping to wow a panel of motoring journalists and be named the AA Driven New Zealand Car of the Year.

The top 10 finalists have been announced and include electric and hybrid vehicles for the first time in the award's history.

All the selected vehicles have been put through their paces in a rigorous trial both on the road and at the Pukekohe Park Raceway. The winner will be announced at a cocktail event on December 10.
