FW11 set for show runs

Honda is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its first victory in the Formula 1 World Championship this year.

To mark the occasion, it will showcase the Williams Honda FW11, the vehicle that brought the company its first F1 constructors’ title, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.

Nigel Mansell, pictured, who piloted the FW11 at the time, will take the wheel for a demonstration run after several months of meticulous, period-correct restoration by Williams Heritage.

The car that will participate is powered by the Honda-developed RA166E, a 1.5-litre V6 twin-turbo said to have produced 1,500hp.

This FW11 is also scheduled to participate at the Monterey Car Week in California during August.

As part of the celebrations, Honda will conduct a show run of its RA272, the car that brought Honda its first F1 victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix 2025 from October 24-26, 2025, exactly 60 years after the team’s first win at El Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit.

Koji Watanabe, president of Honda Racing Corporation, says: “We are thrilled the FW11 show run at Goodwood has been confirmed. I would like to commend the skills of those involved in restoring this car and express my gratitude to everyone who made this possible.

“Additionally, we will continue to prepare for events planned to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Honda’s first F1 victory, including Goodwood, with the aim of providing joy to all fans.”
