From pocket rocket to tS
Subaru of New Zealand says it’s upping the ante with new 2024 WRX by launching solely the top-of-the-range tS models in sedan and wagon versions this month.
Both are equipped with the marque’s eight-speed performance transmission and are priced from $67,990.
The WRX tS continues to deliver on its “core promise of adrenaline-pumping fun and thrills” packaged in a solidly engineered chassis and body.
The two variants come with 10 premium Harman Kardon speakers, subwoofer, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Staying charged is now easier thanks to a USB-C port
Tim Barns-Lawton, Subaru of NZ’s general manager, says: “The WRX sets the benchmark against which all other performance cars are judged.
“The 2024 models deliver 202kW of power and 350Nm of torque via a 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer engine, which equates to 270hp.
“All that brawn is kept under control courtesy of all-wheel drive, while the transmission and eight-speed paddle shift give Kiwis faster shifting and better downshift.”
The WRX was the original turbocharged “pocket rocket” when launched in Japan in 1992. As it enters its 2024 iteration, Barns-Lawton says the tS’ performance has been more than matched by advanced features “usually reserved for vehicles with luxury price-tags”.
