Ford takes commercials double

There were 3,022 new commercials registered last month for a decrease of 31.8 per cent from 4,428 in November last year.
Ford’s Ranger, pictured, was the best-selling model with 1,083 units, but that figure was down 29 per cent from 1,526 a year ago.
Its 35.8 per cent share of the market put it well clear of Toyota’s Hilux, which was the second best-seller on 420 registrations and 13.9 per cent of activity. Another Toyota, the Hiace, was third on 169 units.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Mitsubishi Triton completed the top five with 106 and 91 registrations, respectively.
Ford was also November’s most popular brand in the commercial sector with 1,135 registrations and a market share of 37.6 per cent. However, its sales numbers were down by 27.7 per cent year-on-year from 1,570 units.
The top four marques last month all reported a drop in November sales. Toyota’s fell 43.1 per cent from 1,049 to 597, Isuzu was down 28.9 per cent from 194 to 138, and LDV suffered a 21.4 per cent fall after going from 173 sales to 136.
Merecedes-Benz, fifth on the marques’ ladder, bucked the trend and its numbers rose 29.3 per cent from 99 to 128.
The sector’s year-to-date total is 37,339 registrations, which is down by 17.2 per cent when compared with the 45,092 recorded at the same stage of 2022.
So far this year, the Ranger has 9,710 sales and a 26 per cent market share to put it ahead of the Hilux’s 7,945 and 21.3 per cent.
Ford also edges the year-to-date chart for marques and has 10,503 registrations and 28.1 per cent of the market, compared with Toyota on 10,288 and 27.6 per cent.

There have been 5,655 registrations year-to-date, which is down by 20.7 per cent from 7,127 over the same period last year.
Toyota is the number-one marque over that period with 2,600 registrations and a 46 per cent market share, and its Hiace is the leading model on 1,887 units and 33.4 per cent.
