Floating SUV joins force

Dubai Police recently reported it had added a Lamborghini Temerario to its fleet of luxury cars.

Now it has bought a high-performance SUV capable of floating on water, turning 360 degrees on the spot and accelerating from 0-100kph in 3.6 seconds.

The Yangwang U8’s distinctive features include its emergency flotation capability, which allows the vehicle to remain afloat and move through water during emergencies and flooding.

Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, director of the general department of criminal investigation at Dubai Police, says the vehicle will help strengthen visibility and engagement at well-known attractions, including Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Rather than serving solely as a patrol vehicle, the Yangwang U8 will also provide a point of contact between officers and the public, allowing tourists and residents to seek assistance.

He notes the addition reflects the force’s commitment to modernising its fleet through advanced automotive technologies and environmentally friendly mobility solutions.

The SUV can complete a 360-degree rotation without moving forwards or backwards, a feature that “demonstrates its advanced manoeuvring technology”.
