Finance company shuts over Covid-19

An Auckland finance company has been closed and dozens of staff are being tested for Covid-19 after one of their colleagues was confirmed as having the virus.

It was revealed on August 11 that four members of a South Auckland family tested positive for the novel coronavirus and no links to overseas travel or managed isolation facilities have been made.

One of them works at a finance company in central Auckland while their partner works at a cool store in the city’s south, reports One News.

Dr Ashley Bloomfield, New Zealand’s director-general of health, says both workplaces have been shut down.

“The person only has close contact in a small team but we are treating everyone in a workplace which has now been shut down,” he explains. “It’s a finance company and all are being followed up and tested.”

Bloomfield adds neither of the workplaces are public-facing and nearly 300 “close and casual” contacts of the couple are being contacted.
