Festive trading hours reminder
Dealers given advice over rules and remuneration for stat holidays.

Automotive businesses are being reminded about what hours they can operate over the festive spell.
VIA (the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association) says while it is illegal to trade on Christmas Day, companies can open their doors on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
It adds that staff who work on those two statutory holidays “are to be paid time-and-a-half and are entitled to a day in lieu to be added to their leave entitlement”.
