EV sets world record

Hyundai has set a Guinness World Record for the greatest altitude change by an electric car.
The Ioniq 5 was driven by a professional team from Evo India with the EV setting the record by registering an altitude differential of 5,802 metres.
The journey began at India’s highest drivable point, Umling La in Leh Ladakh, which is located 5,799m above sea level. It finished in Kuttanad, Kerala, situated three metres below sea level.
The feat was accomplished over 14 days with the route covering more than 4,900km.
The team had to tackle challenging terrain and extreme climatic conditions, such as freezing temperatures and steep mountain passes in the Himalayas.
Unsoo Kim, managing director of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, says: “We are dedicated to pushing boundaries and setting new benchmarks in e-mobility, and this record further reinforces our vision of ‘progress for humanity’.”
