EV sales jump by 52%
Registrations of EVs surged by 52 per cent in Europe during June with sales of volume models up by 59 per cent.
Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 were the bestselling models last month with the Y climbing by 43 per cent and the 3 up 66 per cent. Both models have benefited from lower-cost offerings.
The Renault 5 E-Tech was in third place, up by 34 per cent. Other volume models with big jumps were the Skoda Enyaq in sixth place with sales up 43 per cent, and the seventh-place Leapmotor T03, up by 382 per cent.
For the year, EV sales have risen by 35 per cent across Europe, with volume EVs up 44 per cent and premium models up 14 per cent.
Plug-in hybrids continued to be a strong transitional choice as June went up by 25 per cent. BYD topped the sales ladder with the Atto 2 taking top spot over the Seal U. Volume PHEVs continued to drive growth in June, with sales up 37 per cent. Premium PHEVs rose by 6.5 per cent.
