Electric range tops 555km
Mazda has announced the launch of its the fully electric Mazda6e in Europe.
The wraps came off the car at Brussels Motor Show on January 10 and it will hit the market later this year.
The Mazda6e is the European version of the EZ-6, the midsize sedan BEV unveiled at Beijing Auto Show in April 2024, and it has been designed to “attain the driving performance and functionality to meet European customers’ needs”.
It was developed through the collaboration between Mazda and Changan Automobile, the Japanese company’s 20-year partner in China.
The Mazda6e will come with two battery options. The smaller 68.8kWh battery provides up to 483km on a single charge and it can be replenished from 10-80 per cent in 22 minutes. Models with the larger 80kWh unit have a range of 555km with the equivalent charge taking up to 45 minutes.
The BEV boasts Mazda’s signature design, craftsmanship and driving performance, while coming with Changan Automobile’s electrification and smart-cabin technologies.
Based on the design theme of “authentic modern”, the Mazda6e’s has a simple and flowing coupe.
Its “meticulously” tuned braking and handling performance respond linearly to driver input to produce a sense of “car and driver as one”.
Its smart functions include an intelligent drive system that provides support for the driver as well as accident-mitigation technology, and a smart cabin with voice, touch and gesture controls.
