Electric concepts on show

Toyota is set reveal two concepts of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) that may herald a step-change for the marque.
The company says one will be an SUV and the other a sports car. They will be revealed at the Japan Mobility Show, which opens on October 26 and was previously known as the Tokyo Motor Show.
The FT-Se sports car, pictured, will boast a wide and low base for better handling, a low instrument panel for visibility, and an aerodynamic body for low air drag and greater range.
As for the FT-3e SUV, it will feature a simple design. It will have a digital display on the driver’s door that can show its battery charge, air quality and temperature when getting into it.
The two models, if manufactured, would boost Toyota’s BEV range, which currently features one vehicle – the bZ4X. That SUV’s arrival in New Zealand has been delayed until next year. It currently sells in Japan, Europe and the US.
