Electric additions for Volvo
Volvo has announced two all-new fully electric SUVs will be launching in the New Zealand market this year, starting with the seven-seater EX90 in late March.
The marque’s EX60 is set to follow later in the year and will offer up to 810km on a single charge, the longest EV range the brand has offered.
Volvo New Zealand’s expanded line-up comes after it sold 534 vehicles in 2025 for year-on-year growth of 40.5 per cent.
Daile Stephens, brand manager, says: “Together, the EX90 and EX60 represent a step change for Volvo in New Zealand.
“They elevate the brand in every dimension, range, technology, design and safety, while staying true to our core values.
“These cars will expand our appeal to families, long-distance drivers and early adopters alike, and position Volvo as a leader in premium electric mobility in New Zealand.”
Pricing, plus on-road costs (ORC), for the EX90 , pictured, will start from $149,990 for the Plus Twin Motor AWD and $159,990 for the Ultra Twin Motor Performance AWD.
The model boasts a five-star Euro NCAP rating, offers a WLTP range of up to 600km, a suite of safety systems, advanced software-driven engineering and over the air updates.
The Ultra version has a 106kWh battery and produces 500kW and 870Nm of torque. It can also be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in about 30 minutes.
As part of Volvo’s sustainability push, the EX90 is built with recycled steel, aluminium and 48kg of recycled plastics and bio-materials. It is also the marque’s first vehicle to feature bidirectional charging, which allows its battery to provide power to homes, external devices or other EVs.
