Driver puts car before hurt jogger
A driver’s lack of compassion delivers the punchline to this amusing sketch from English comedy duo Hale and Pace.
The sequence begins with a jogger, played by Norman Pace, waiting to cross a busy road who ends up shoving another runner off the pavement to stop the traffic.
Pace’s character gleefully carries on running while the camera pans out to show the victim lying in the road after being struck by a car.
The situation becomes more absurd when the driver, played by Gareth Hale, the other half of the double act, gets out and shows more concern for the bodywork of his red Renault than for the injured runner.
Hale and Pace found fame during the 1980s and 1990s, with many of their TV sketches shifting ordinary situations into ridiculous territory through unexpected twists.
