Defender’s debut in Sydney

The new Defender Octa is making its Australian debut at SXSW Sydney, which runs from October 17-18.

The variant is being described as “the most dynamically accomplished” Defender ever created.

An imposing stance and bold new design set the Octa apart, and a new signature graphic pays homage to its “diamond-like credentials”.

Powered by a 4.4 litre twin-turbo mild hybrid V8 engine, it’s the most powerful Defender to date with 467kW and up to 750Nm of torque enabling 0 100kph in four seconds.

Heavily revised chassis components with innovative technologies, including 6D Dynamics suspension, ensure “its dynamic capabilities are taken to new heights”.

The ride height has been raised, stance widened and wheel arches extended. Redesigned bumpers give improved approach and departure angles, and there’s tough underbody protection.

SXSW Sydney is a two-day event in Darling Harbour. It celebrates the convergence of tech and innovation, music, games and screen.
