Dates set for double-header

The Repco Supercars Championship has announced the dates for its first New Zealand double-header in 2026, with Taupo International Motorsport Park and Christchurch’s Ruapuna Raceway locked in for back-to-back events in April.

Supercars will race in Taupo from April 10-12, followed by the inaugural South Island round at Ruapuna from April 17-19.

Details of the dates come after it was revealed Taupo and Ruapuna will share hosting duties for the next three years, from 2026-2028.

Shane Howard, Supercars chief executive officer, says the double-header will become a new highlight of the annual calendar and is a huge win for its fans and partners in Aotearoa.

“We saw over 67,000 fans attend our return to Taupō in 2024 and we’re excited to build on that success by bringing the championship to the South Island for the very first time,” he adds.

“With two back-to-back events showcasing New Zealand’s best circuits, passionate fans and iconic locations, April 2026 is set to be one of the biggest months in Supercars’ history.”

The 2026 Taupo and Christchurch events are expected to deliver significant economic and tourism benefits, building on the momentum of past New Zealand rounds and drawing thousands of fans from across the country and Australia.

Ticketing details, supporting categories and entertainment line-ups for both rounds will be announced later this year.
