‘Crucial’ launches for Nissan

Nissan has showcased refreshed and new models, along with next-generation technologies, which are set to make their debuts during its 2025 and 2026 financial years.

The company says the products – including the all-new Leaf, pictured above – will play a crucial role in boosting its performance, increasing customer loyalty, attracting new buyers, increasing profitability and promoting sustainable growth.

To meet the rising demand for diverse powertrain options, the upcoming line-up will include hybrid technologies including e-Power and plug-ins, next-generation EVs and advanced internal combustion engines (ICEs).

Guillaume Cartier, chief performance officer, says: “Our redefined market approach and tailored product strategy are designed to better meet customer needs and drive top-line growth.

“Through powertrain diversification and new models, we will provide a broader range of options that cater to diverse preferences, further distinguishing the Nissan and Infiniti brands.”

Ivan Espinosa, pictured below, chief planning officer, adds: “Over the next two years, we are excited to roll out an impressive line-up. This includes the reimagined Leaf and a daring new Micra EV.

“But that’s not all. We’re refreshing our range of SUVs to elevate driving experience, and our next-generation e-Power promises new levels of refinement and efficiency.

“We’re committed to investing in products that embody the very best of Nissan. To our passionate fans and loyal owners, this is just the beginning of an exciting journey ahead.”

Reimagined as a sleek and spacious family-friendly crossover, the third-generation all-new Leaf pairs substantial improvements in aerodynamics with a more advanced all-electric architecture.

In a first for the iconic EV nameplate, it will be available with 19-inch alloys and a panoramic moonroof.

For the North American market, a NACS charging port will be integrated – the first time for a Nissan EV – enabling convenient access to the Tesla Supercharger network.

The all-new Leaf sits on the marque’s modular CMF-EV platform, which made its debut with the Ariya. Efficient energy management, streamlined packaging and enhanced performance from a new three-in-one EV powertrain are expected to help deliver significant range improvements over the previous generation. More details will be available mid-year.

The company’s third-generation e-Power system will benefit from the learnings of more than 1.6 million units produced since it was introduced in 2016.

Its third iteration delivers notable improvements in efficiency. It’s targeted to provide up to a 15 per cent enhancement in economy at high speeds compared to the current system. It will also deliver lower emissions and extra refinement via reduced noise and vibration.

A Nissan technology, e-Power uses a small-capacity petrol engine and lithium-ion battery to drive an electric motor. As the electric motor alone powers the wheels, the result is an EV-like driving experience characterised by responsive acceleration and with quiet operation.

Central to the advancement is a new 1.5-litre dedicated engine. Additionally, the new five-in-one system shares core components with Nissan’s latest EV powertrain.

The latest e‐Power system will first feature in the Qashqai in Europe later in the 2025 financial year, followed in 2026 in the next-generation Rogue in North America and a large minivan for the Japanese market.

Oceania & Japan models

For Oceania, there will be two EVs, a pick-up, the all-new Patrol and third-generation e-Power over the next two years. Sales of the much-anticipated Ariya all-electric crossover will start down under in 2025.

In 2026, there will be a significant number of new models. These include the new Patrol as the first right-hand-drive (RHD) market globally, an all-new one-tonne ute leveraging Nissan’s partnership with Mitsubishi Motors, and the all-new third-generation Leaf and Qashqai crossover with third-generation e-Power technology.

Nissan will launch and refreshed models in Japan in 2025, including the all-new Leaf and a refreshed kei-class model. In 2026, there will a new large minivan generation with e-Power.

Future in Europe

Nissan will launch three key electrified models in Europe in 2025 – all-new Micra EV, the new Leaf and Qashqai crossover.

The Micra returns to the continent, reimagined as an all-electric city car made with Renault. Styled by Nissan Design Europe in London, it will be offered exclusively for European customers with sales starting before the end of the year.

The Qashqai and next-generation e-Power will deliver reduced emissions, improved efficiency and refinement. To date, close to 200,000 e-Power equipped vehicles have been sold in Europe since its introduction.

In financial year 2026, the all-new, all-electric Juke will be added to the range – Nissan’s fourth passenger EV in Europe. As previewed by the Hyper Punk concept, this compact crossover will continue the nameplate’s bold design and advanced connectivity “delivering personalisation to support the owner’s self-expression”.

North American market

During 2025, Canada and the US will be the first markets to launch the new Leaf, which will join the Ariya in the brand’s EV portfolio. Nissan will also start sales of its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in North America – the compact Rogue SUV.

A new generation of the Sentra compact sedan will be introduced later this year, alongside a refreshed mid-sized Pathfinder SUV. For Infiniti, a revamped three-row luxury QX60 SUV will be offered alongside a Sport package for the full-sized QX80 SUV.

In 2026, production of the all-new, fourth-generation Rogue will begin. It will be the first Nissan with e-Power in the US and Canada. The marque will also offer the Rogue with a powerful and efficient ICE, as well as a PHEV to provide a diverse range of powertrains for that market’s most popular vehicle segment.

Infiniti will launch the all-new QX65 crossover coupe. Channelling inspiration from the FX, it promises buyers a stylish two-row alternative in the popular mid-sized crossover segment.

From late 2027, an all-new Nissan EV is slated to start production at its Mississippi plant. It will be an adventure-focused SUV and will be joined the following year by a luxury Infiniti EV SUV inspired by the Vision QXe concept.

Rest of the world

As for Latin America, 2025 will see Nissan aiming to expand sales of the latest Versa sub-compact sedan and launch a new sub-compact SUV. For Infiniti, the refreshed QX60 will also arrive.

In 2026, the Frontier/Navara mid-size pick-up truck will arrive in Latin America, availability of the X-Trail compact SUV with e-Power will expand to extra markets in the region, and Infiniti will launch the QX65.

The Z range in the Middle East will expand in 2025 with the track-ready Z Nismo. Infiniti will launch its refreshed QX60 and a new Sport package for the QX80. The following year, the all-new QX65 will be added to Infiniti’s range.

Nissan is aiming to expand in India’s rapidly growing market. It will introduce a multi-purpose vehicle there in 2025 followed by a five-seat compact SUV in 2026.

Both will be made locally at the Chennai plant. They will follow the “one car, one world” strategy to support domestic sales and deliver world-class exports in RHD and LHD. Nissan aims to hit 100,000 units of annual domestic sales in and exports from India.

The introduction of the Magnite compact SUV will begin in African LHD markets during 2025, with the new Patrol rolling out in Egypt and South Africa this and next year respectively. There will be a new five-seat SUV for selected African markets in 2026.
