Crocodile Hunter’s car snapped up

Auction sales for classic, performance and collectible cars through an online platform totalled more than A$5.95 million (about $6.6m) last month, a 79 per cent increase from the same period a year ago.
Collecting Cars says it sold 105 lots in New Zealand and Australia during August.
Highlights from last month include a 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia fetching A$330,000, a 1998 Subaru Impreza STI 22B being sold for A$228,000, and a 2001 Porsche 911 (996) GT2 Clubsport making A$388,388.
Also among last month’s sales was a 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ47 Troop Carrier, pictured, that was formerly owned by Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin and went under the hammer for A$40,000.
Lee Hallett, head of Apac at Collecting Cars, says the business has continued year-on-year growth during the recent and anticipates more buyer interest now spring is here.
