Combined range of 800km
Mazda unveiled two models at the Japan Mobility Show with one being its Vision X-Coupe.
The PHEV system in the crossover, pictured above, integrates a two-rotor turbo engine with a motor and battery. With maximum output of 375kW, it offers a range of 160km in motor-only mode and up to 800km on just the engine.
It combines carbon-neutral fuel derived from microalgae with Mazda’s proprietary emissions capture technology.
The Vision X-Compact, meanwhile, “deepens the bond between people and cars through fusing human-sensory digital model and empathetic AI”.
Acting like a close companion, it can engage in “natural” conversation and suggest destinations. This represents Mazda’s vision for the future when vehicles and people “form an emotional connection, much like a friend”.
In addition, the all-new CX-5 was on public display for the first time at this year’s Japan Mobility Show. Featuring a spacious interior and improved dynamics, it has been designed on the new Mazda E/E architecture+ electronic platform.
