Clumsy thieves target car yard

A used car dealer has seen the funny side of a raid on his business after the thieves’ bumbling antics were caught on camera.

The trio targeted Govanni Used Cars in Detroit, United States, at about 5am on November 7 but only got away with one catalytic converter during their poorly planned caper, reports Fox 2.

First, the raiders backed their ute into a pole at the dealership’s entrance. They then used an electric saw to open the gate, unaware security guards were inside the building watching them on camera and alerting the police.

CCTV footage next shows one of the offenders urinating by a vehicle before sawing off a catalytic converter from a Jeep.

The security guards then confronted the hapless trio, who made a comical escape as one man fell out of their fleeing vehicle and dropped his gun at the same time. Less than a minute later the suspects returned for the firearm before driving off, reports Fox 2.

Kola “Sonny” Gjonaj, owner of the dealership, describes the thieves’ brazen raid as comical and adds “they’re like the Three Stooges”.
