Checking recall status of Euros

VIA (the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association) has been advised used BMW and Mercedes-Benz stock is still being imported into New Zealand with outstanding non-alpha recalls.
It says some key points include BMWs not being listed with their recall status on the website run by the Japan Automobile Service Promotion Association (JASPA).
That said, BMW Japan provides a call-back site where individual vehicles can be looked up. VIA members can click here for a BMW Japan recall search.
“We ask all buyers to use this site to check the status of all BMWs before purchase in Japan, and have them fixed and the recall closed out before shipping,” says Malcolm Yorston, technical manager.
“VIA understands there are more than 11,000 BMWs affected by the Takata recall in Japan.”
To check the status of a used Mercedes-Benz, visit the marque’s recall site. Click here for Mercedes-Benz Japan’s recall search.
“To view the above search pages in English, open the links in Google Chrome, then right click anywhere on the page and select ‘translate to English’.”
For any questions, call Yorston on 0800-842-842 or email technical@via.org.nz.
