Bumper month for commercials
There were 4,847 new commercials registered last month, an increase of 39 per cent when compared with 3,487 in March 2025.
Toyota’s Hilux, pictured, was the best-selling model in March with 1,182 units, up 76.7 per cent from the 669 sold in the same month a year ago.
Next was the Ford Ranger on 1,036 registrations, a year-on-year increase of 46.1 per from 709, and Mitsubishi’s Triton was third with 414 sales.
The Nissan Navara and Toyota Hiace completed the top five with 408 and 338 sales respectively.
The Ranger leads the year-to-date standings with 2,484 registrations and a 23.3 per cent share of the market.
In second place is the Hilux on 1,695 and 15.9 per cent, and the Navara is third on 1,223 units and 11.5 per cent.
The market’s overall year-to-date total stands at 10,659 units.
On the marques’ ladder, Toyota was top in March with 1,534 registrations, up 78.6 per cent from 859 a year ago, and a market share of 31.6 per cent.
Ford was next on 1,147 units, a rise of 40.4 per cent from 817 in March 2025, and Mitsubishi was third on 414.
Ford is ahead of the pack in the year-to-date charts with 2,826 registrations and a market share of 26.5 per cent. Toyota is second with 2,586 and 24.3 per cent and Nissan completes the top three on 1,223 and 11.5 per cent.
Used market grows
As for used-imported commercials, the 467 units registered in March was up 17.3 per cent from 398 in the same month last year. This brings the year-to-date total to 1,210.
Toyota’s Hiace was the leading model last month on 193 registrations and a market share of 41.3 per cent.
The Nissan NV200 was next with 22, while Ford’s Ranger and the Nissan NV350 were tied on 19 sales each.
Year to date, the Hiace has recorded 473 sales for a 39.1 per cent market share, and Nissan’s NV200 is second on 66 units and 5.5 per cent.
Toyota was the top marque last month with 225 registrations, a 19 per cent increase from 189 a year ago. Next was Nissan with 84, Ford on 29, Hino with 19 and LDV on 17.
Year to date, Toyota has 577 registrations and a 47.7 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 224 and 18.5 per cent, with Ford third on 68 and 5.6 per cent.
