BMW Group NZ’s sales surge

BMW Group New Zealand says its sales have got off to a flyer this year, with registrations for the first quarter up by 18.6 per cent when compared with the same period of 2024.

The company has announced 535 new BMW units were registered in the first three months of 2025.

In March alone, the brand completed 209 sales for an increase of eight per cent from the same month a year ago.

BMW Group NZ notes its new-vehicle sales surge in the first quarter outpaced the overall premium segment, which grew by 7.9 per cent year-on-year.

As for its Mini brand, sales increased 10 per cent in March and 35 per cent for the quarter.

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were a strong performer for the group between from January to the end of March.

The number of zero-emissions BMW models sold increased 28.4 per cent to 131 units and includes sales of the BMW iX1, pictured, jumping 86 per cent year-on-year.

Adam Shaver, BMW Group NZ managing director, says multiple factors have driven the “impressive” sales figures.

“This excellent result starts with our ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience via our dealer network,” he adds.

“This is combined with compelling product across numerous vehicle types and powertrains, which is evidenced by the outstanding response to both our internal combustion and BEV offerings, as well as our BMW M models.”
