A black bear has been identified as the culprit behind a series of vehicle break-ins in a Canadian town after it was discovered locked inside a resident’s car.

Kayla Seward, of Larder Lake, Ontario, was woken by noises outside her home on the night of June 11 and when she went to inspect, she found the creature dropping off to sleep in the passenger seat.

“He’s nodding off, baby look at him,” she says in the clip below before her husband opens the door of the Honda Civic to release the creature off-camera.

It is believed the tagged bear, who had managed to get into three other nearby cars in the space of a week, had opened the unlocked vehicle by lifting a door handle with its mouth, reports the Guardian.

Seward believes the furry mammal was the same one that also broke into her vehicle through the rear window a year ago.

In a video showing the latest damage the bear caused, including torn upholstery and door panels, Seward jokes: “Nothing a little duct tape won’t fix.”
