German authorities have announced that they are widening their investigation into emissions test cheating to include Volkswagen’s luxury carmaker Audi, according to a recent Reuters report.

On Monday, the Munich public prosecutor’s office searched the apartment of Audi CEO Rupert Stadler and one other board member, almost three years after Volkswagen admitted to falsifying emissions tests.

“Since May 30, 2018 the chairman of the board of Audi AG Prof. Rupert Stadler as well as a further member of the management board are now named suspects,” the Munich prosecutor’s office told Reuters.

Munich prosecutors said the two suspects were being accused of fraud and false advertising.

According to information on Audi's website, Stadler became AUDI AG Board Member from January 2003. From April 2003 to August 2007 Stadler was responsible for the Finance and Organisation Division.

Rupert Stadler became Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG on 1 January 2007.
