All-new electric hypercar revealed

A new luxury electric hypercar by world-famous Italian car design firm, Automobili Pininfarina, was launched in New York on Friday, with three exciting new images presenting design intent revealed.

Pininfarina is known for designing some of the world’s greatest cars, including almost every Ferrari in existence, the original Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider and many more.

The first ever Pininfarina-branded electric car, codenamed PF0, will go into production in 2020 and is estimated to cost between US$2 million and US$2.5 million.

Pininfarina claims the new hypercar can reach 100kph in less than two seconds and offers around 500 kilometres of driving range.

Design director, Luca Borgogno, hopes the images will allow prospective owners an “exciting preview of the design features.”

“Pininfarina has an unprecedented heritage of delivering cars that are both beautiful to look at and technically innovative.”

Automobili Pininfarina chief executive Michael Perschke also announced plans to bring on board ex-Formula 1 racing driver Nick Heidfeld.

“We have a specific strategy in place to develop road car technology inspired by motorsport,” says Perschke.

“Nick Heidfeld has more experience racing in Formula E than any other driver and we are delighted that from next year he will help deliver race-bred, electrifying performance in PF0.”
