Ranger leads pack

There were 3,490 new commercials registered last month, which was a drop of 13.7 per cent when compared with 4,045 in March 2024.
However, the latest tally was up 24.8 per cent from 2,796 units in February this year.
Ford’s Ranger, pictured, was the top model in March with 709 units, down 29.2 per cent from 1,002 in the same month a year ago.
Next was the Toyota Hilux on 669 registrations, up 9.5 per cent over the same time frame from 611 units.
Mitsubishi’s Triton was the third best-selling model in March with 488 sales, a decrease of 28.2 per cent from 680. Nissan’s Navara finished fourth with 383 and fifth spot was claimed by the BYD Shark 6 on 169.
The Hilux leads the way year-to-date with 1,883 registrations and a 20.7 per cent share of the market.
In second place is the Ranger on 1,788 and 19.7 per cent, and the Triton is third on 1,005 units and 11.1 per cent.
On the marques’ ladder, Toyota was top in March with 861 registrations, up from the 821 it achieved a year ago, and a market share of 24.7 per cent.
Ford was next on 818 units, which compares with 1,128 in March 2024, while Mitsubishi was third on 488.
Toyota tops the year-to-date charts with 2,408 registrations and a market share of 26.5 per cent. Ford is second with 2,094 and 23.1 per cent and
Mitsubishi completes the top three on 1,005 and 11.1 per cent.
Toyota dominates used sector
As for used-imported commercials, the 400 units registered in March was down 29.1 per cent from 564 in the same month last year.
Toyota’s Hiace was the leading model last month on 137 registrations and a market share of 34.3 per cent, despite its tally falling 38.8 per cent from 224 registrations in the previous March.
The Nissan NV350 was next on 33, down 54.2 per cent from 72 units over the same period, and Toyota’s Dyna was third as its registrations rose from 16 to 22.
The Hiace is the leading model year to date with 429 sales and a 37.9 per cent market share, and the NV350 is second on 87 units and 7.7 per cent.
Toyota was the top marque last month with 190 registrations, a 34.5 per cent decrease from 290 a year ago, followed by Nissan with 67 units. Hino and Mitsubishi were tied for third on 27 sales.
Year to date, Toyota has 561 registrations and a 49.6 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 204 and 18 per cent, with Hino third on 67 and 5.9 per cent.
