World Car of the Year finalists revealed

The top 10 finalists for the main prize at the 2022 World Car Awards have been announced along with the vehicles that will be vying for a host of other gongs.
Hyundai leads the way for the World Car of the Year award with two nominations – the Ioniq 5, pictured, and Tucson – and is joined by models from Audi, Cupra, Ford, Genesis, Honda, Kia, Lexus, Toyota and Subaru.
A jury of 102 international automotive journalists from 33 countries have selected the contenders through a secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their professional work.
A new category for electric vehicles (EVs) has also been created to “recognise, support and celebrate the global transition to electrically-powered vehicles”.
The candidates for the 2022 World Car of the Year award will be whittled down to a top three on March 15 before the winners for all categories are announced at the 2022 New York International Auto Show on April 13.
