007 makes debut

Dongfeng Motor’s rear-wheel drive (RWD) Long Range 007 is available from $54,990 while the Performances starts at $59,990.

The 007 has an electric range of 520km of range while the all-wheel-drive Performance 400kW model can make the 0-100kph dash in 3.9 seconds.

Simon Rutherford, chief executive officer of Armstrong’s Distribution Ltd, says: “Thanks to Dongfeng, we’re helping Kiwi families drive their dreams and by making a wide range of attractive, technology-rich new-energy vehicles available that deliver leading value across a variety of segments.

“These two new low-slung fastback coupes feature premium appointments, and are the epitome of an elegant sports tourer and, at the same time, redefine value and performance in the large electric sedan segment.

“The 007 is the ultimate showcase of sophistication, innovation and design. It delivers premium-grade performance without the premium price tag.”

The 007, pictured above, is available to order now and test drives will start at Armstrong’s Dongfeng dealerships in Wellington, Christchurch and Greenlane, Auckland.

It’s the largest model in Dongfeng’s line-up and has been designated the brand’s “hero product” for New Zealand.

Both variants are powered by marque’s Mach-E 10-in-1 electric-drive technology paired with a 70kWh traction battery, and an active shutter grille that optimises cooling and efficiency.

The 007 has frameless doors, hidden door handles and sharp lighting signatures, while its 2,915mm wheelbase translates to a spacious cabin.

Features include a 15.6-inch digital interface powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 computing chip. This high-performance platform ensures fast system response, seamless connectivity and long-term software capability.

The same system supports the built-in recording function, which uses the vehicle’s cameras and can be activated manually or during emergency events.

With a drag co-efficient of just 0.209, the 007 is “the most aerodynamically efficient EV sedan currently available in New Zealand. This translates into improved real-world efficiency, quieter cruising and enhanced high-speed stability which outperforms key rivals”.

Premium features on both models include a double-coated panoramic glass roof, frameless doors, 19-inch alloys, adjustable height electric tailgate, premium soft-touch leather seats, ventilated and six-way electric front seats, Apple CarPlay as standard, Android Auto as optional and wireless cellphone charging.

The 007 comes standard in morning white or is available with a $499 colour paint options of night shadow black, sun gold, stone grey and, exclusively for the Performance version, orchid purple.

An interior trim is reserved for each model – grey and black for Long Range, and ivory and grey for the Performance, pictured below.

Then there’s the 19-speaker Wanos theatre-grade panoramic sound system, including integrated headrest speakers and ambient lighting synchronisation for an immersive cabin environment.

The two variants are fitted with six airbags, rear-parking sensors and a 540-degree surround-view camera.

Level-two advanced driver-assistance systems include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking and intelligent door-opening warning.

The 007 has a five-star vehicle safety risk rating. It comes with a six-year/200,000km vehicle warranty, eight-year/200,000km battery warranty and six years of roadside assistance.

Additionally, Dongfeng has announced its $29,990 special offer on its Box – a compact, five-door, fully electric hatchback – will be available until the end of April 2026.

“The 007 fundamentally changes the large EV sedan conversation in New Zealand,” adds Rutherford. “It delivers the performance, refinement and space buyers expect from premium European brands, but at a price that dramatically lowers the barrier to entry.”
