Waka quits Holden role

Neil Waka tendered resignation as manager of corporate affairs at Holden New Zealand on September 29. Marnie Jane Samphier, general manager of marketing with the marque, says: “He has decided to make a change in his career and, given that change may involve another member of the New Zealand automotive industry, we mutually agreed to make the resignation effective immediately. “Neil joined Holden in 2010 and quickly worked hard at forging strong relationships with the motoring media utilising his own extensive experience in the media. That effort will certainly have a lasting benefit to Holden NZ and for that we are grateful. “While it is sad to see Neil leave so suddenly, he will always be a great friend to Holden and his love for the brand is something that endures today. We will be kicking off recruitment for the corporate affairs manager position in the coming days.” Waka joined Holden NZ in August 2010, and was formerly a television news anchor with TV One and TV3. His career in broadcasting spanned 25 years beginning in radio as a news and current affair journalist before moving into TV.
