Volkswagen’s passenger and commercial vehicle divisions teamed up to present a line up of plug in hybrid, fully electric and internal combustion models at Melbourne Motor Show.

A major highlight was first public appearance in Australia of the all new Tiguan eHybrid, pictured. This model and Tayron eHybrid represent the marque’s “next evolutionary step” in electrified performance, efficiency and everyday versatility

The Tayron eHybrid PHEV has been positioned as a spacious, globally orientated family SUV. It brings together long range hybrid capability with Volkswagen’s modern design language.

It has been engineered for people seeking a confident and efficient all rounder that supports urban commutes and long distance travel “with ease”.

The Tayron eHybrid also offers more generous cabin and luggage capacity. It has an “elevated ride comfort, refined interior layout and strong hybrid performance”.

The Tiguan eHybrid PHEV has been built for customers “transitioning towards electrification without compromise”. Volkswagen says it combines everyday practicality.

Its mission in the portfolio is to make electrified driving accessible to a wider audience by providing comfort with the added flexibility of electric only short range driving.

The Tiguan eHybrid’s proportions, “agile” handling and contemporary digital cockpit “make it an ideal choice for commuters and suburban drivers seeking premium efficiency in a midsize footprint”. The Tiguan and Tayron eHybrids will arrive in Australian showrooms in the second quarter of 2026.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, meanwhile, presented a selection of models designed for business operators, adventurers and lifestyle orientated buyers, including the ID. Buzz, Multivan and Amarok.

Spanning fully electric mobility, people moving solutions and off road capability, the display highlighted the breadth of the marque’s portfolio, and its shift towards cleaner, smarter and more capable transport solutions.
