Volvo EVs coming to NZ
Volvo New Zealand has announced two fully-electric models will be arriving in the domestic market from the third quarter of this year.
The C40 Recharge, pictured and XC40 Recharge vehicles sit on the same compact modular architecture platform as the XC40’s plug-in hybrid and internal combustion engine variants.
They will feature either a 69kWh battery with a single motor or a 78kWh battery with dual motors, both of which the marque claims will deliver more than 400km of range on a single charge.
Engine options for the models are either a P6 single motor front-wheel-drive, delivering 170kW and 330Nm, or a P8 dual motor all-wheel-drive with figures of 300kW and 660Nm.
Volvo’s new Android-based Google infotainment operating system is standard on both cars.
Ben Montgomery, Volvo Cars New Zealand general manager, says the first shipment of XC40s will arrive this year and is already accounted for.
He adds new orders can expect to receive vehicles in 2023 and notes demand for the C40 has also been strong.
Pricing starts at $83,900 for the XC40 and $85,900 for the C40.
