Vibe, Excite and Essence
MG Motor has launched the completely redesigned and all-new MG HS in New Zealand.
The second generation of the marque’s mid-sized SUV is being offered in three dynamic variants – Vibe, Excite and Essence.
The latest iteration of the model boasts a striking exterior, spacious interior and enhanced all-round performance thanks to a 1.5-litre turbo dual-clutch transmission.
“The HS has been completely re-engineered to redefine the mid-size SUV segment in New Zealand,” says Peter Ciao, chief executive officer of MG Motor Australia and New Zealand.
“At MG, our commitment is unwavering. We deliver exceptional value without sacrificing quality, innovation, cutting-edge technology and safety.
“We’ve rebuilt the HS from the ground up to deliver a revolutionary SUV that sets a new standard in performance and sophistication.
“Equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced technology and safety features, it offers an unparalleled driving experience.
“We are thrilled to see this vehicle make its mark on New Zealand roads. This launch represents a significant advancement for MG.”
The all-new HS boasts combined carbon-dioxide emissions of 156g/km and combined fuel consumption of 6.9l/100km. These figures outshine its predecessor and are complemented by a more expansive interior.
Harrie Yan, chief operating officer of MG Motor NZ, says: “The HS embodies MG’s new design values in a smaller format and is a showcase in premium global design where form follows function.
“The HS is packed with technology and is a perfect fit for today’s market as a growing number of buyers look to upgrade into affordable yet premium cars.”
The Vibe has automatic LED headlights, 18-inch alloys and a 12.3-inch dual-screen entertainment system, which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity in the centre console.
The Excite has more advanced features. These include sleek 19-inch alloys, a 360-degree camera for unparalleled visibility and the convenience of remotely controlling the air conditioner or heater via MG iSmart.
The Essence grade has a panoramic sunroof, immersive eight-speaker audio system, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control and heated front seats.
The MG Pilot safety suite, meanwhile, includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking and blind-spot detection among its many features.
With its larger dimensions, thanks to its longer wheelbase, the latest HS is the “ultimate family vehicle, offering unmatched space and comfort”, says the marque.
Under the hood, the SUV features a potent 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that generates a robust 125kW of power and 275Nm of torque. The Vibe retails from $36,990 and Excite from $39,990. The Essence starts at $42,990.
