VIA thanks outgoing minister

The Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA) has thanked Simeon Brown for his dedicated service as Minister of Transport.

During his tenure, Brown, pictured, “demonstrated a clear commitment to engaging with the vehicle-import sector and addressing key challenges impacting the industry”, according to the association.

VIA has also acknowledged his efforts to navigate “complex” policy areas, including emissions-reduction targets, vehicle-safety standards and the ongoing transition to a lower-emissions fleet.

“We warmly welcome Chris Bishop as the new Minister of Transport,” says Greig Epps, VIA’s chief executive. “He brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership to this role.

“VIA looks forward to building on the strong relationship established by his predecessor, and engaging with him to address opportunities and challenges facing the vehicle-import sector.

“We are committed to working closely with Minister Bishop to ensure our industry continues to contribute meaningfully to transportation and environmental goals. We’re confident his leadership will help advance initiatives that balance innovation, affordability and sustainability.”
