Vehicle data firm seals takeover
Autocheck, a digital vehicle background information service, is looking to build its business after acquiring Lemoncheck.
The move comes following Chris Wenzlick, Lemoncheck’s owner, deciding to retire after 20 years of providing vehicle reports and online dealer services through his company.
The deal to sell his business to Digimotive Ltd, trading as Autocheck, was completed late last year.
Autocheck, which was co-founded in December 2021 by Mike Harvey and his business partner Andrew Connell, is an online vehicle background report provider and appointed Waka Kotahi agent.
Harvey, pictured, explains the takeover means Lemoncheck customers can now access the Autocheck portal for services such as finding vehicle reports and completing change of ownership forms. Autocheck can also aid day-to-day trading, including dealer NZTA services MR13B and MR13C.
“We are excited to acquire Lemoncheck and its customers,” he adds. “Chris Wenzlick has been involved in the online vehicle data space since its inception in New Zealand and has been a stalwart in this industry.
“I had been talking to Chris for a number of years about the potential to either acquire and continue the Lemoncheck brand or start something new and transition his customers across.
“We decided to start afresh and build a new, mobile-friendly platform. The space we’re operating in is dominated by one large player, but I felt there was an opportunity for something a bit more user-friendly and up-to-date.”
Harvey says Autocheck had a soft launch in 2021 but is now fully operational and “concentrated on growth”.
