Vans in top five best-sellers

Sales activity dips for new commercials but used market delivers 28.4 per cent year-on-year jump.

There were 3,079 new commercials registered last month, a drop of 15 per cent when compared with 3,621 in August 2025. 

Toyota’s Hilux was the best-selling model in August with 890 units, up 19.8 per cent from the 743 units sold in the same month a year ago. 

Next was the Ford Ranger on 571 registrations, a year-on-year drop of 41.5 per cent from 976, and Mitsubishi’s Triton was third with 337 sales after a 28.6 per cent increase from 262 units. 

The Toyota Hiace was fourth with 194 sales and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, pictured, completed the top five after recording 99 registrations.

The Ranger tops the year-to-date standings with 6,223 registrations and a 24 per cent share of the market.

In second place is the Hilux on 5,161 and 19.9 per cent, and the Triton is third on 2,602 units and 10 per cent.

The market’s year-to-date total stands at 25,971 units.

Toyota claimed the number one spot on the marques’ ladder in August with 1,115 registrations, a jump of 14.8 per cent from 971 a year ago, and a market share of 36.2 per cent.

Ford was next on 633 units, down 43.7 per cent from 1,113, and Mitsubishi was third with 337.

Toyota is top of the year-to-date charts with 7,239 registrations and a market share of 27.9 per cent. Ford is second with 6,973 and 26.8 per cent and Mitsubishi completes the top three on 2,602 and 10 per cent.

Hiace leads used sector

As for used-imported commercials, the 443 units registered in August were up 28.4 per cent from 345 in the same month last year. This brings the year-to-date total to 3,215.

Toyota’s Hiace was the leading model last month on 216 registrations, up from 114 in August 2025, and a market share of 48.8 per cent.

Next were Nissan’s NV200 with 21 sales, the Daihatsu Hijet and Nissan Caravan on 14 each, and the Toyota Regius and Ranger in equal fifth place with 12 units apiece.

The Hiace has clocked 1,345 sales year-to-date for a 41.8 per cent market share, and Nissan’s NV200 is second on 174 and 5.4 per cent.

Toyota was the top marque last month with 251 registrations, a 70.7 per cent increase from 147 a year ago.

Nissan followed with 54 and the top five was rounded off by Isuzu on 22, Ford with 20 and Hino on 17.

Year to date, Toyota has 1,608 registrations and a 50 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 523 and 16.3 per cent, with Ford third on 164 and 5.1 per cent.
