Ute gains new engine option
Ford New Zealand says it is responding to consumer demand and the next-generation Ranger Raptor will soon be available to Kiwis with a two-litre biturbo diesel engine.
The company has announced the model is now available to order, with the first units due to arrive from October 2023 onwards.
It means the Raptor, pictured, is now available in two powertrains with the twin turbo v6 ecoboost already on the market.
The June 14 announcement came on the same day the Ranger Platinum and Ranger Wildtrak X made their New Zealand debuts at the Fieldays event near Hamilton.
The Raptor biturbo model has a power output of up to 150kW and 500Nm of torque from 1,750rpm, and stands on 17-inch wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tyres.
Ford notes it has also been developed to the Euro 6 emissions standard, using AdBlue and improving nitrogen oxide and other emissions.
David Herbert, Ford NZ’s marketing manager, says: “The next-generation Ranger Raptor has been much sought after since its launch last year. Many of our customers have also been asking for the return of the biturbo.
“Also, with the clean car scheme at the top of many minds, Ford’s biturbo diesel is an excellent option to avoid the higher fees. It remains one of the cleanest yet most capable powertrains available in New Zealand.”
