Used imports climb 21.3%

The Nissan Leaf broke into the top three for first-time registrations of used imported cars in September.
Overall sales were dominated by two Toyotas, however. Last month’s ladder was topped by the Toyota Aqua with 1,628 units and a market share of 18.2 per cent. Second spot went to Toyota’s Prius with 1,067 units and 12 per cent.
The Leaf, pictured, came third with a five per cent share of the market and 450 units. The top five was completed by Toyota’s Corolla with 386 registrations and Nissan’s Note with 371. Mazda’s Axela was sixth with 326 with Honda’s Fit seventh on 312.
As for overall used-imported registrations, there were 8,921. That was up by 21.3 per cent compared to 7,355 in the same month of 2022.
Toyota headed up the marques’ ladder with 4,317 units to claim 48.4 per cent of the market. Its year-to-date total is now 34,525 units for a market share of 41.6 per cent.
Nissan was a distant second with 1,326 and Mazda was third on 889 for market shares of 14.9 and 10 per cent respectively for the month of September. Honda was fourth with 666 and Subaru came fifth on 388.
