Turners set to open new site
Turners Cars has revealed it is on track to open a new site in Timaru in November this year and will ultimately have a team of eight staff at the dealership.
The new venture will be a full-service site that buys and sells cars as well as offering finance and insurance. There will also be one or two auctions per week, depending on volumes.
Turners says about 100 vehicles are expected to be on sale at any one time at the branch, which will be at the corner of Meadows Road and State Highway 1, with another 60 being prepared for sale.
Timaru has been identified by the company as an area where it can be successful and follows recent forays into New Plymouth, Nelson and Rotorua.
Greg Hedgepeth, chief executive officer, says: “I know that the team in Timaru and those supporting them will be working hard to deliver to customers’ expectations and provide a great service to the local community.
“If we get the basics right and look after our customers, then there is no reason to believe that Timaru will not be another successful Turners branch.
“We can’t wait to be part of the local community and will be putting our best foot forward from day one.”
It will be the fifth Turners Cars site on the South Island and adds to the nine dealerships the business operates across the North Island.
Turners will start recruiting for staff a few months out from the November opening and aims to have an almost full complement of eight employees for the site by the time it starts operating.
