Turners director quits board

Turners Automotive Group has announced director Martin Berry has resigned from its board, with his departure effective from March 31.

Berry, pictured, is a seasoned global financial services executive and joined the company as a non-executive director in August 2018.

However, he says his commitments as the group chairman of Gong Cha Global, a tea shop brand with more than 1,600 stores worldwide, have increased materially over the past year.

He notes being based in Singapore, where he is also founder and chairman of venture studio Launcho Ventures, has made it increasingly difficult to dedicate the time and attention he would like to give to Turners and his director role.

“My tenure at Turners has been incredibly rewarding,” he explains. “The decision to step down has not been easy, and I want to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful years we've shared and the remarkable progress Turners has made.

“The company is in excellent hands, and I eagerly anticipate watching Turners continue to thrive and reach new heights from the sidelines.”

Grant Baker, chairman, in an announcement to the NZX on February 23, says the company wanted to express its gratitude to

Berry for his “unwavering commitment and invaluable challenge and contributions”.

“Martin has played a key role in helping guide the business through the pandemic and helping position Turners to be delivering record levels of profit,” he continues.
