Staff at Mercedes-Benz Auckland are celebrating a “phenomenal turnout” for the company’s first classics and collectables open day.

Hundreds of car enthusiasts and families attended the event showcasing a range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles spanning decades of design and engineering.

The cars on display were all supplied by clients of the Newmarket dealership and ranged from the 1950s to some of the latest high-performance AMG models.

Among the classic vehicles on show were a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster and a 1966 230SL Pagoda, while speed enthusiasts were drawn to a 2020 AMG GT R Pro and a 2014 SLS AMG Black Series model.

Other highlights in the collection included rarities such as a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, a 1960 190SL Roadster and a 1966 250 SE Cabriolet.

Michael Collins, dealer principal, says: “It was great to see such a phenomenal turnout across the enthusiast community and we’re extremely grateful to our customers for allowing us to showcase their vehicles.

“The variety and quality of the vehicles on display were amazing, and the positive response from everyone who attended made it a standout occasion. It was a genuine tribute to automotive excellence.”

The family-friendly occasion on March 22 also featured face painting, balloon animals and candy floss for the children, while adults had the chance to win Mercedes-Benz merchandise by putting their driving skills to the test in a racing simulator challenge.
