Toyota leads used market
The number of used-imported cars registered in New Zealand fell by 1.9 per cent last month to 6,782, when compared with the 6,912 units in November 2024.
The latest figure takes the year-to-date total to 78,333, which is 13.5 per cent lower than the 90,568 units at the same stage a year ago.
Toyota’s Aqua was the best-selling model last month with 766 registrations – up by 16.8 per cent from 656 units in November last year – and a market share of 11.3 per cent.
An unchanged top five from the past three months meant Toyota took out the next two spots on the November sales ladder with the Prius, pictured, second on 476 units and seven per cent and the Corolla third with 358 and 5.3 per cent.
Nissan’s Note recorded 294 sales for a 4.3 per cent market share and the Mazda Axela was next on 266 and 3.9 per cent.
The Aqua leads the year-to-date standings on 8,270 units and a market share of 10.6 per cent, followed by the Prius on 5,634 and 7.2 per cent.
Toyota was the number one marque in November with 2,581 registrations for 38.1 per cent of the market. Its monthly total was up by 6.8 per cent from 2,417 in the same month of 2024.
Mazda was the second most popular brand last month with 995 units for a market share of 14.7 per cent, and Nissan was third on 940 and 13.9 per cent.
Year to date, Toyota is out front with 29,238 registrations and a 37.3 per cent market share.
Nissan is next on 10,927 and 13.9 per cent, and Mazda has 10,817 and 13.8 per cent.
