Toyota’s RAV4, pictured, with 539 units was the best-selling model despite its number dropping 24.4 per cent from 713 a year ago – and it secured a market share of 7.6 per cent.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was second on 327 and 4.6 per cent, although its sales slipped from 541 in March 2022, and Suzuki’s Swift was third with 276 and 3.9 per cent.

Completing the top five was the MG ZS on 247 units and 3.5 per cent of the market, and the BYD Atto 3 184 and 2.6 per cent.

The RAV4 has overtaken the Swift at the top of the year-to-date ladder and has sold 1,671 units to gain a 4.9 slice of the market. Suzuki’s model has completed 1,599 registrations over the past four months and netted a 4.7 per cent share of activity.

MG’s ZS, the Eclipse Cross and the Atto 3 are next on 1,252, 1,218 and 1,176 units, respectively.

Toyota was the top-selling marque in April on 1,366 units, which was down 14.3 per cent from 1,594 in the same month a year ago. Its share of last month’s new passenger-vehicle market came in at 19.3 per cent.

Kia was second on 715, jumping 53.1 per cent year on year to claim 10.1 per cent of the market.

Mitsubishi came third with 677 registrations, while Suzuki and Hyundai were next on 520 and 395 sales, respectively.

Toyota still leads the way year-to-date after notching 5,228 sales and a 15.3 per cent market share, followed by Kia on 3,869 and 11.3 per cent.
