Toyota is recalling versions of its Land Cruiser and Audi has safety concerns over a number of models because possible faults may lead to the vehicles catching fire.
Some Land Cruiser 70s built between 2016 and 2018 may have a problem with the exhaust heatshield.
Toyota says when its VDJ76, VDJ78, pictured, and VDJ79 models are driven in long vegetated areas, flammable material, such as dry grass, may accumulate between the frame and exhaust pipe.
If the vehicle is continued to be operated without the removal of such debris, the diesel-particulate filter system regeneration mode may cause the flammable material to smoke or catch fire.
The recall notice from May 14 advises that registered owners will be contacted by letter, or they can call Toyota’s Customer Dialogue Centre.
Meanwhile, Audi has identified fiery hazards in A4, A5, A6, A7 and Q5 cars from model years 2018-21.
A recall from May 18 warns moisture may enter the belt-driven starter-alternator and this can result in chemical reactions that lead to overheating in the component.
Audi says in such circumstances a vehicle fire cannot be ruled out and this can occur on a vehicle that has been parked for an extended period. It advises that affected owners will be notified in writing.
Subaru Forester, model year 2019
Recall issued: May 5. The hazard: The positive crankcase ventilation valve, an oil-flow control device, may separate and allow engine oil to enter the combustion chamber. This can cause a release of excess smoke and the vehicle may suffer a loss of power. What to do: Contact a Subaru dealer.
Jeep Wrangler, model years 2018-19
Recall issued: May 5. The hazard: The transmission harness on more than 3,500 vehicles may have insufficient clearance to the catalytic converter, resulting in contact between the components. This may lead to a no-start, diagnostic trouble code or stall condition and thermal degradation of the wiring harness. What to do: Contact a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer.
Bentley Bentayga, model years 2018-20
Recall issued: May 14. The hazard: The third-row seat belt pillar loop upper anchorages may not fulfil the load requirements, which means the loops risk separating from the body structure in an impact accident. What to do: Make an appointment for repairs as soon as possible.
Citroen C3, model years 2019-20
Recall issued: May 18. The hazard: The interior mirror fixing on the windscreen may not conform. What to do: Contact a Citroen dealer.
