Top rating for super hybrid

Jaecoo’s J7 Super Hybrid System (SHS) model has achieved a five-star safety rating from ANCAP.

It was awarded 81 and 85 per cent respectively for adult and child-occupant protection, 80 per cent for vulnerable road-user protection and 84 per cent for safety assist.

Carla Hoorweg, chief executive officer of ANCAP, says: “Jaecoo has achieved solid results in its first assessment, demonstrating good levels of occupant protection. It’s positive to see new market entrants delivering safety and alternative powertrain choices.

“As consumer expectations evolve, it’s encouraging to see new entrants such as Jaecoo, a sub-brand of Chery, responding with technology that supports safer vehicles.

“While the J7 meets many of ANCAP’s requirements for driver-assistance systems, some improvements to the lane-support system to enhance its on-road driving experience would further benefit owners.”

“We are delighted to receive the prestigious five-star rating for the J7 SHS,” says Roy Munoz, chief commercial officer of Jaecoo Australia and New Zealand.

“This acknowledgement highlights our dedication to delivering vehicles that adhere to the most stringent safety standards, offering assurance and peace of mind to our customers.”

The J7 SHS leverages its parent company’s third-generation hybrid advancements. It can travel for 1,200km on one tank of fuel and has an EV-only range of 106km in EV mode.
