Top dealer hits pricing sweet spot

The best-performing dealer in the country last week sold 47 cars and 98 per cent of its stock was priced “on market”, according to the latest statistics from Apexdealerdata.com.

The Christchurch business came top in the online platform’s weekly breakdown of sales figures.

At the other end of the spectrum, a dealer that only managed one successful trade last week had none of its vehicles in the on-market category.

Apexdealerdata.com’s AI-driven decision engine rates the pricing of vehicles as higher, on market or lower based on what it works out as the best price for the quickest return and most value for a car.

Matt Grant, chief executive, says the system designed for the local automotive industry aims to help dealers “turn over stock at maximum profit in the fastest time possible”.

Its latest number-crunching also reveals 810 dealers sold cars last week and units were taking an average of 65 days to sell. The average number of sales per week per dealer came in at 14.
